Technical Advisor - Electrical Control and Instrumentation Opportunities in Kalumbila Barrick Lumwana Mining Corporation is seeking a dedicated professional for the role of Technical Advisor Electrical Control jobs Kalumbila to join the Lumwana Expansion Project Team.

Role Overview:

Championing Excellence in Electrical Control and Instrumentation Reporting to the Lead - Electrical Control and Instrumentation, the successful candidate will ensure that all electrical, control, instrumentation, and communications installations comply with project specifications, engineering standards, safety regulations, and statutory requirements.

This role demands a results-driven approach to quality assurance and technical oversight throughout all project phases. Key Responsibilities for Technical Advisor Electrical Control Jobs Kalumbila Conduct daily inspections of Electrical, Control, Instrumentation, and Communications installations across all project areas.

Verify construction activities align with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and quality plans. Monitor contractor workmanship and ensure compliance with project standards and safety regulations.

Identify, document, and report installation deficiencies, non-conformances, and deviations promptly. Ensure corrective actions are implemented and validated before accepting work.

Inspect cable installations, terminations, gland installations, earthing, containment, instruments, control panels, substations, transformers, switchgear, and MCCs. Oversee trenching, cable routing, pulling, support systems, and segregation requirements.

Verify instrument installations including mounting, impulse tubing, junction boxes, and field instrumentation compliance. Monitor construction activities related to HV, MV, and LV electrical systems.

Ensure adherence to Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Quality Control Plans (QCPs), and construction specifications. Participate in construction walkdowns, punch listing, pre-commissioning inspections, and commissioning readiness reviews.

Assist in identifying latent defects and commissioning risks prior to system energisation. Review contractor quality records and verify inspection documentation completion.

Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), Site Acceptance Tests (SATs), and commissioning activities. Maintain detailed site inspection records and prepare regular quality and progress reports.

Support project handover by ensuring turnover documentation is complete and accurate. Promote a strong quality culture across all project execution teams.

Qualifications and Experience Required Grade 12 School Certificate. Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related field; a Degree is an advantage.

Minimum 10 years’ experience in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) construction within mining, industrial, processing, power generation, or large infrastructure projects. Experience in mining industry greenfield or brownfield capital projects is essential.

Membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ). Strong knowledge of HV, MV, and LV electrical systems including substations, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, and instrumentation.

Proven experience with ABB and Siemens MV Switchgear, and MV/LV VSDs installation, configuration, and commissioning. Expertise with Siemens PCS 7 DCS hardware, I/O, marshalling, and DCS networks including industrial Ethernet and fibre optics.

Ability to interpret P&IDs, single-line diagrams, loop diagrams, cable schedules, termination drawings, and specifications. Familiarity with QA systems, inspection protocols, punch listing, non-conformance management, electrical safety standards, and permit-to-work systems.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Manual driver’s license.
