We are hiring on behalf of a leading mining organization operating gold mining and exploration assets. The company is focused on safe, sustainable, and efficient mining operations while driving operational excellence and long-term resource development.
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Head of Mining to lead all underground mining operations at a remote mine site. The role is responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and cost-effective production while overseeing mine planning, workforce leadership, contractor management, and operational compliance.
The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership, ensuring mining activities meet production targets, safety standards, and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all underground mining operations and production activities
  • Drive safe, efficient, and cost-effective mining performance
  • Oversee mine planning, scheduling, and production execution
  • Manage mining budgets, operational costs, and resource allocation
  • Lead multidisciplinary mining teams and develop operational capability
  • Coordinate with technical, maintenance, and processing departments
  • Manage contractors and ensure operational performance
  • Ensure compliance with mining regulations, safety, and environmental standards
  • Monitor production KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support long-term mine planning and operational strategy

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in underground mining operations
  • Previous experience in Mine Manager or senior mining leadership roles
  • Strong knowledge of underground mining methods and mine planning
  • Experience managing underground production and mining operations
  • Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong understanding of mining safety and regulatory compliance
  • Valid Mine Manager Certificate of Competency (CoC) or eligibility to obtain one
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Willingness to work in a remote FIFO mining environment
