Purpose of the PositionThe Waiter is responsible for providing excellent food and beverage service to guests in restaurants, hotels, lodges, and other hospitality establishments. The role focuses on ensuring customer satisfaction through professional service, accurate order taking, and maintaining a clean dining environment. Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer ServiceWelcome and seat guests in a friendly and professional manner.Present menus and explain menu items when necessary.Take accurate food and beverage orders.Serve food and drinks according to service standards.Check on guests during meals to ensure satisfaction.Handle customer complaints politely and professionally.Food and Beverage ServicePrepare tables before service.Ensure orders are delivered correctly and promptly.Clear tables and maintain cleanliness in the dining area.Assist with setting up and closing the restaurant or dining area.Cash Handling and BillingPrepare bills and process payments accurately.Handle cash, card payments, and receipts responsibly.Teamwork and OperationsCommunicate effectively with kitchen and bar staff.Assist colleagues during busy periods.Follow company service procedures and standards.Health and SafetyMaintain hygiene and cleanliness standards.Follow food safety and health regulations.Ensure safe handling of food and beverages. Minimum Qualifications
  • Grade 10–12 / Matric certificate.
  • Hospitality or food service training is advantageous.
 
Experience
  • Previous experience as a waiter or in customer service preferred.
  • Entry-level candidates may receive on-the-job training.
 
Knowledge
  • Basic food and beverage service procedures.
  • Customer service principles.
  • Health and hygiene standards.
  • Menu and product knowledge.
