PURPOSE OF THE JOB
In addition to all the duties, roles and responsibilities of a Senior Engineer, the Engine Specialist’s role will include being involved in and overseeing the inspection, defects rectification, servicing, troubleshooting, repair, modification, overhaul and overall maintenance of aircraft engines and their respective components and any other related duties within the scope of an Engine and Airframe Senior Engineer as well as co-managing manpower and resources to verify and ensure that the aircraft are safe for continued operation.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION
- To deliver a quality and timeous service to aircraft and/or components under maintenance.
- Hands on maintenance of aircraft, aircraft engines and components.
- Oversee the full spectrum of maintenance, health and condition of all Engines maintained by NAM and operated by Wilderness Holdings companies.
- Promoting innovation/creativeness and ensuring that the service is not compromised through establishing adequate processes and procedures.
- Ensure efficiencies of self and maintenance personnel in all areas of day-to-day work.
- Responsible for producing and submitting operational information and reports on all events, changes, improvements, failures, tech log summaries, aircraft detailed summaries as well as delivering specific operational information required by finance as and when requested from the aircraft maintenance department.
- Develop and advise on strategies and to improve aircraft and engine health and performance including preventative maintenance strategies.
- Trouble shoot and rectify defects without comebacks.
- Delivery of performance standards.
- Regularly check the engines, airframe, and mechanical systems of the aircraft
- Inspect aircraft, look for faults, and diagnose faults
- Have all work inspected, approved and signed off.
Qualifications
- A holder of an Aircraft Maintenance Engineers License
- Trade Certificate or similar qualification in Aircraft Maintenance
- Diploma or Advanced Diploma of Aviation Maintenance Management.
- Proven past experience as a Technical Manager in a senior position is essential.
- Proven working experience in an aerospace environment for a minimum of 10 years.
- Proven record of the Civil Aviation Regulations of Botswana (Additional records for other regions including Zimbabwe and Namibia are advantageous)
Experience
- OEM/DOF service centre experience e.g. Lycoming, Continental, P&WC (PT6A experience required)
- OEM factory training – overhaul/line/heavy maintenance.
- Test cell experience for PT6A series engines. (Preferred)
- OEM/DOF service centre experience.
- Piston and Turbine scheduled and unscheduled maintenance experience.
- Line and heavy maintenance experience.
- Knowledge of engine health monitoring systems including ability to evaluate recorded/captured data.
- Knowledgeable in planning and constant review of plans.
- Be able to train and empower subordinates.
- An active driver of safety and security identification and reporting.
Competencies
- Familiar with the principles of a Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Organization.
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
- Must have extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
