Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the drafting team.
  • Allocate workload and manage departmental resources.
  • Ensure all drawings meet engineering, quality, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Conduct final reviews and approvals of technical drawings.
  • Establish and maintain drafting standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Coordinate activities between engineering, production, maintenance, and project teams.
  • Monitor project schedules and ensure deliverables are achieved on time.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the design office.
  • Conduct performance management, coaching, and development of team members.
  • Support product development and engineering improvement projects.
  • Manage document control and engineering change processes.
  • Prepare departmental reports and provide management feedback on project progress and resource requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
  • National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related field.
  • Supervisory or management qualification advantageous.
Experience
  • 8–15 years of engineering drafting and design experience.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Experience within manufacturing, heavy engineering, industrial equipment, gearbox, transmission, or related industries advantageous.
Technical Skills
  • Expert-level CAD proficiency.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering design principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Advanced understanding of GD&T and engineering standards.
  • Project planning and resource management.
  • Quality management systems and document control.
