About the Opportunity
An established and growing organisation is looking for a high-calibre Senior Accountant to take ownership of the financial accounting function across a diverse group of companies.
This is a pivotal role suited to a technically strong and commercially minded finance professional who enjoys working in a multi-entity environment and partnering with leadership to drive business performance.
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and strategic financial insight across the group.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare consolidated monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with IFRS
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data across all entities
- Perform variance analysis and deliver meaningful insights
- Ensure compliance with SARS regulations, VAT, and tax requirements
Accounting & Compliance- Oversee AP, AR, general ledger, and payroll functions
- Manage and reconcile intercompany transactions across the group
- Ensure adherence to South African tax legislation
- Strengthen and maintain internal controls and financial processes
Budgeting & Forecasting- Support the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts
- Partner with operational teams to track and improve performance
- Provide financial input to support strategic decision-making
Audit & Internal Controls- Lead the year-end audit process and liaise with external auditors
- Prepare audit packs and supporting schedules
- Identify process improvements and drive efficiencies
- Ensure compliance with local and international reporting standards
Leadership & Team Development- Manage and mentor junior finance staff
- Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement
Strategic & Ad-hoc Support- Provide management reporting and insights
- Support corporate transactions, including M&A and restructuring
- Assist senior leadership with strategic finance projects
Minimum Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3–5 years’ experience, ideally within a group or multi-entity environment
- Strong knowledge of VAT and South African tax legislation
- Proven experience in financial reporting and consolidations
Technical Skills- Advanced Excel proficiency
- Experience with accounting systems such as Xero, Sage, SAP, or Pastel
- Exposure to cloud-based tools (e.g. Xero, Dext, Syft) advantageous
- Experience with CaseWare or similar reporting tools beneficial
