Job Summary
The Food Technologist is responsible for ensuring the production of high-quality, safe, and compliant cashew nut products. The role involves overseeing production and packaging operations, implementing product formulations, maintaining food safety standards, ensuring regulatory compliance, and documenting production activities to support quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Food Safety and Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable food safety regulations, standards, and company policies.
- Implement and monitor Good Manufacturing Practices GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points HACCP, and other food safety requirements.
- Conduct routine inspections and audits of production and packaging processes to ensure adherence to food safety standards.
- Investigate quality and food safety issues and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Support internal and external audits, certification processes, and regulatory inspections.
- Promote a culture of food safety, quality consciousness, and operational excellence.
Production Oversight
- Supervise cashew nut processing activities, ensuring efficient production operations and optimal product quality.
- Monitor production parameters and processes to achieve consistency in product specifications.
- Coordinate with production teams to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures SOPs.
- Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and processing of raw materials and finished products.
Product Formulation and Development
- Implement and monitor ingredient formulations for different product variants.
- Ensure accurate measurement, mixing, seasoning, and blending processes according to approved formulations.
- Work closely with relevant departments to maintain consistency in product taste, texture, appearance, and quality.
- Support product trials, formulation adjustments, and new product development initiatives when required.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing product quality and operational efficiency.
Quality Assurance and Control
- Conduct quality checks on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
- Verify compliance with established quality standards and specifications.
- Monitor packaging quality, labeling accuracy, and product traceability requirements.
- Analyze quality data and prepare reports to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
Documentation and Record Management
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of production processes, quality inspections, batch records, and formulation data.
- Ensure proper documentation of deviations, corrective actions, and process changes.
- Prepare regular production, quality, and compliance reports.
- Maintain document control systems in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Food Science and Technology, Food Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in food processing, manufacturing, or quality assurance, preferably within the nut processing or FMCG industry.
- Strong knowledge of food safety systems, including GMP, HACCP, ISO 22000, and related standards.
- Experience in food production processes, quality control, and product formulation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and production documentation systems.
