BACKGROUND
Gonarezhou Conservation Trust (GCT), a partnership between the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife
Management Authority and the Frankfurt Zoological Society, is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented
Grants Coordinator to join our team. This is a pivotal role responsible for securing, coordinating, and
managing funding streams that support our conservation mission in and around Gonarezhou National
Park.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As Grants Coordinator, you will:
• Oversee day-to-day grant management, reporting, and donor liaison.
• Support proposal development, budgeting, and operational planning.
• Ensure compliance with donor requirements and GCT financial policies.
• Maintain strong relationships with donors, partners, and sub-grantees.
• Work closely with Finance, Monitoring & Evaluation, and departmental teams to track grant activities and report on outcomes.

The role will be based at Chipinda Pools in Gonarezhou National Park, with some possible flexibility
for remote working. You will report directly to the Trust Director and collaborate with senior staff
across GCT, particularly the Finance and Monitoring and Evaluation teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support the Trust Director to identify and pursue new funding opportunities.
• With relevant internal teams, develop project concepts and proposals in line with GCT’s Annual Operating Plan.
• Coordinate grant activities, ensuring timely spending and accurate allocations of expenses.
• Monitor governance and financial management of grants, ensuring full grant compliance.
• Track and report on grants from inception to closure, handling day-to-day liaison with donor representatives.
• When required, represent GCT with donors and partners.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Professional Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in business management, Finance, Conservation or related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ relevant NGO experience (conservation or development preferred).
• Experience in philanthropic grant management essential
• Strong communication skills with exposure to high-net-worth donors.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and appropriate use of AI tools.
• Valid Class 4 Driver’s License.

• High integrity and attention to detail

Advantageous
• Experience in conservation or development NGO sector
• Experience working in remote environments
• Experience with bilateral and institutional grant management

• Able to lead and influence people across departments.
