Employment Information
Midlands State University is recruiting an Internal Auditor to examine university operations, assess internal controls and document findings. The successful applicant will plan individual assignments, conduct audit tests and follow up on corrective actions.
Duties and responsibilities
• Prepare audit assignment plans, programmes and working papers.
• Use interviews, process flowcharts, risk assessments and documented procedures to design audit tests.
• Conduct substantive, compliance and detailed transaction testing to identify irregularities.
• Review departmental policies and procedures to assess internal control effectiveness.
• Collect, organise and retain evidence supporting audit findings.
• Draft audit reports outlining findings.
• Follow up on recommendations and track corrective action.
Qualifications
• Degree in Accounting, Internal Auditing, Taxation, Business Studies or an equivalent discipline.
• At least three years of relevant auditing experience.
• A relevant Master’s degree or professional qualification such as CIA, CISA, CFE, ACCA, CGP or equivalent is an added advantage.
• Strong understanding of auditing standards, procedures and applicable laws and regulations.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and accounting software.
• Independent judgement, professionalism and integrity.
• Strong organisational, communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and work with diverse groups.
