Role Overview for Risk and Compliance Manager Jobs in Lusaka The successful candidate will lead key initiatives to safeguard the organization’s operational and financial health. You will develop and implement comprehensive risk management frameworks, oversee compliance with regulatory requirements including those set by the Bank of Zambia, and champion fraud prevention measures.
This position demands a hands-on leader who can build and guide the Risk and Compliance function as the organization expands. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain the Enterprise Risk Management Framework tailored to organizational needs.
Identify, assess, and monitor strategic, operational, financial, and compliance risks. Maintain the corporate risk register and track Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to ensure timely mitigation.
Ensure full compliance with Bank of Zambia regulations and other relevant legal requirements. Formulate and review policies related to risk management and regulatory compliance.
Coordinate compliance monitoring activities across branches and departments. Lead fraud prevention strategies and manage investigations of significant compliance or fraud incidents.
Develop and sustain Business Continuity and Operational Resilience plans. Prepare and present detailed risk and compliance reports to Senior Management and the Board.
Advise on risk and compliance matters concerning new products and business initiatives. Promote a strong culture of ethics, compliance, and risk awareness throughout the organization.
Build and lead the Risk and Compliance team to support organizational growth. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Accounting, Banking, Business Administration, Economics, Law, or a related field.
Professional certifications such as CIA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAZ, or equivalent are advantageous. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in risk management, compliance, internal audit, or financial services.
At least 3 years in a supervisory or management capacity. Experience within a regulated financial institution or microfinance environment is preferred.
Strong expertise in risk management principles and practices. Excellent analytical, report-writing, and communication skills.
Demonstrated high ethical standards, integrity, and sound professional judgment.
