Production Operator (ESP & PCP Systems)

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Production Operator to manage the day-to-day operations and maintenance of up to 50 wells. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be responsible for everything from initial commissioning and start-up to long-term maintenance of ESP and PCP lift systems.

You’ll be the "boots on the ground," working closely with our Production Engineer in Nairobi. Because consistency is key for an asset like this, we include a 2-day paid handover at every rotation change to make sure nothing slips through the cracks when you're heading out or coming back in.

What the work looks like

Daily Operations & Maintenance

• Start-up & Commissioning: You’ll be there for the critical moments—getting wellhead and production equipment online and ensuring it stays running smoothly.

• Artificial Lift Management: Most of your day will involve managing ESP and PCP systems, ensuring they are operating at peak performance.

• Daily Checks: You’ll test safety systems, manage chemical usage, and keep a close eye on leak detection protocols.

Monitoring & Troubleshooting

• SCADA Surveillance: You’ll use SCADA systems to monitor well performance, quickly detecting any anomalies or operational "hiccups" before they become bigger problems.

• Problem Solving: When a well isn't performing as it should, you’ll lead the troubleshooting efforts and work with the engineering team to optimize production.

Team & Record Keeping

• Mentorship: You’ll share your expertise with junior operators on-site, helping them level up their skills.

• Accuracy: You’ll maintain clean, detailed operational records so we have a clear history of every well’s performance.

Who you are

This isn't an entry-level position. We need someone who has spent years on-site and knows these systems inside and out. Specifically:

• Experienced: You have 10+ years in wellsite operations, particularly in commissioning and production start-up.

• Technical: You have hands-on experience with ESP or PCP artificial lift systems. If you know both, even better.

• System-Savvy: you’re comfortable using SCADA for remote surveillance and understand the importance of strict leak detection.

• Reliable & Safe: You have a "safety first" mindset, which is vital when working in remote environments.

• Qualified: You hold a Diploma or equivalent in petroleum operations or mechanical systems.

It’s a plus if you have:

• Experience in East Africa, especially on assets that are in the early production or ramp-up phase.

• Current safety certifications like H2S, BOSIET, or OPITO.

The Setup

• Rotational Role: This position works on a rotation basis with a dedicated 2-day paid handover period.

• Environment: You’ll be based at the wellsite, dealing with the realities of field operations daily.
