SYSTEMS ACCOUNTANT 

Description

The incumbent will be primarily responsible for designing, optimizing, and maintaining an organization’s financial systems, Sage software, and data workflows to ensure accurate reporting and maximum operational efficiency.

Duties

• System Maintenance & Administration: Manage and configure core financial systems, user access, workflows, and sub-ledger controls.
• System Upgrades & Implementation: Lead or assist in the deployment of new accounting software and ERP upgrades.
• Process Optimization: Identify bottlenecks in financial operations and develop automated technical solutions to streamline them.
• Data Integrity: Monitor and maintain Chart of Accounts and ensure coding structures comply with accounting standards.
• Reporting & Analytics: Generate custom reports, automate financial dashboards, and facilitate data warehousing.
• Training & Support: Act as the primary liaison between IT and Finance, providing user training and ongoing system troubleshooting.
• Compliance & Security: Ensure system controls meet internal audit standards, regulatory requirements, and data protection policies

Qualifications And Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field
• Professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIMA) is an added advantage
• ICT certification is also an added advantage
• A minimum of 3 years experience in a accounting or ICT environment

Skills

• Demonstrable experience in managing or implementing accounting software packages preferably SAGE
