Employment Information
A large commercial agricultural business is seeking a qualified and experienced Auto Electrician to maintain and repair electrical systems on tractors, trucks, vehicles and agricultural machinery. Previous experience working on farms or agricultural estates is neccessary.
Key responsibilities
-Diagnose and repair electrical faults on vehicles, tractors and farm machinery.
-Repair and maintain starter motors, alternators, batteries and charging systems.
-Inspect and repair wiring, lighting, ignition systems, relays, switches and electrical connections.
-Diagnose electronic faults using appropriate testing and diagnostic equipment.
-Work with sensors, electronic control units and engine-management systems.
-Carry out preventative maintenance to minimise breakdowns and equipment downtime.
-Respond to breakdowns and undertake electrical repairs on farms.
-Maintain accurate repair records and identify spare parts requirements.
-Follow safe working procedures and maintain tools and equipment.
Requirements
-Recognised trade qualification or certificate in Auto Electrical Engineering, Automotive Electrics or a related field.
-Proven practical experience as an Auto Electrician.
-Experience working on diesel vehicles, tractors or heavy machinery.
-Ability to read wiring diagrams and diagnose faults independently.
-Sound knowledge of 12V and 24V electrical systems.
-Proficiency with multimeters, diagnostic scanners and other electrical testing equipment.
-Reliable, safety-conscious and attentive to detail.
-Valid driving licence and willingness to travel within Southern Malawi.
-Farm or agricultural-machinery experience would be an advantage.
