Automotive Junior HV Technician (Electric Vehicles) - Cape Town

Employment Information

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the diagnosis and repair of electric and hybrid vehicle systems
  • Perform routine maintenance and servicing on EV and hybrid vehicles according to manufacturer standards
  • Support senior technicians with High Voltage (HV) battery inspections, testing, and repairs
  • Conduct vehicle health checks and diagnostic scans using manufacturer-approved equipment
  • Identify and report faults, technical issues, and repair requirements
  • Ensure all work is completed accurately and within specified timeframes
  • Follow all High Voltage safety procedures and workshop safety regulations
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
  • Complete job cards, technical reports, and warranty documentation accurately
  • Participate in ongoing manufacturer and technical training programmes
  • Assist with software updates, calibration procedures, and system programming where required
  • Work collaboratively with the workshop team to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Stay updated with developments in EV technology and manufacturer technical bulletins
Requirements:
  • Qualified Motor Vehicle Technician (Red Seal advantageous)
  • Relevant Automotive Qualification
  • EV and High Voltage Certification advantageous
  • Minimum 1–3 years' workshop experience in the automotive environment
  • Exposure to electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles, or alternative fuel vehicles advantageous
  • Valid driver's licence
  • Ability to use diagnostic equipment and interpret technical information
  • Strong understanding of vehicle electrical and electronic systems
  • Computer literate
  • Willingness to learn and develop within the EV sector
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Motor Industry experience Essential!!
Preferred Experience:
  • Strong technical aptitude
  • Previous exposure to Electric Vehicles (EVs) or Hybrid Vehicles
  • Experience working within a franchised dealership environment
  • Knowledge of High Voltage safety procedures and EV architecture
  • Experience with manufacturer diagnostic systems and software updates
  • Understanding of battery management systems, charging systems, and electric drivetrains
