The Electrician will execute electrical installations, wiring, testing, and commissioning for new construction projects and existing infrastructure. The role ensures all electrical infrastructure is safe, functional, and fully compliant with national regulatory standards.
Key Result Areas (KRAs) & Responsibilities:
Electrical Installation: Install conduits, cable trays, wiring, distribution boards (DBs), lighting, switches, and socket outlets according to electrical designs.
Power Systems & Continuity: Wire up and commission backup power systems, including solar solar arrays, inverters, batteries, and generator changeover switches.
Testing & Compliance: Conduct continuity, insulation resistance, and earth loop impedance testing. Assist in preparing installations for ZETDC (ZESA) inspections and securing Certificates of Compliance (CoC).
Fault Finding: Troubleshoot and resolve electrical faults, short circuits, and equipment failures swiftly to minimize project downtime.
Safety Adherence: Strict adherence to electrical safety protocols (lockout/tagout procedures) and proper utilization of insulated tools and PPE.
Qualifications & Experience:
Qualifications: Journeyman Class 1 or 2 Certificate in Electrical Power Engineering / Installation (HEXCO / Apprenticeship trained).
Licensing: Registration with the Electricity Licensing Board or a valid Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) installation license is a distinct advantage.
Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of active experience in commercial, industrial, or domestic electrical installations.
Knowledge: Thorough understanding of the Standards Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ) wiring regulations (Wiring of Premises).
