Employment Information

Our client is seeking a compassionate qualified nursing sister to join their exciting growing team.
 
MAIN PURPOSE
 
The primary purpose of to give medical attention to IOD cases and sick employees.
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Provision of medical surveillance services Input/Task

  • Conduct pre-employment medical examination in accordance with medical examination protocols.
  • Conduct pre-placement and transfer medicals in accordance with medical examination protocols.
  • Provide a baseline health status and determining fitness for duty.
  • Conduct periodic health screening to detect early signs of target organ damage related to specific health hazard exposure.
  • Identify and ensure early and prompt intervention measures to affected employees and referrals to appropriate functionaries.
  • Report and assist on all injuries on duty and occupational diseases to the Compensation Commissioner.
  • Conduct exit medicals to detect and exclude possible occupational diseases related to occupational exposure.
  • Assess the health status of a worker.
  • Assess ability to work.
  • Present recommendations to line manager.
  • Medical records should be recorded and signed.


Determination of health control measures

  • Conclude multi-disciplinary health risk and occupational
  • injury assessments.
  • Monitor work processes and identify new health risks.
  • Evaluate occupational hygiene surveys and identify trends.
  • Provide specialist input into the compiling of man-job task.
  • specifications for all activities required by specific jobs.
  • Identify and provide recommendations regarding the control of health and safety risk exposures.
  • Compile individual and group occupational health risk exposure profiles.
  • Monitor compliance with recommendations on first aid and emergency preparedness procedures.
  • Compile and maintain data base of medical records for all employees.


Provision of a limited primary health care service

  • Treat minor ailments and injuries where feasible and refer to other resources when necessary.
  • Provide care and support for certain diseases based on business imperatives e.g. HIV/AIDS.
  • Monitor and control chronic conditions impacting a worker’s ability to perform their tasks.
  • Stabilize medical emergencies and refer to stepped-up care.
  • Order and maintain medication and equipment for emergency kits.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
 
            Minimum qualification required:

  • Grade 12
  • National Diploma in Occupational Health Nursing
  • Audiometry and Spirometry Certificate

 
                Business skills:

  • Organizational skills
  • Knowledge of and exposure to the FMCG industry

 
                People Skills:

  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council
  • Dispensing license
  • Driver’s license
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the LRA, EEA, BCEA,
  • Nursing Act, COIDA and OHSA
  • Good communications skills
  • Report writing
  • Presentation skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Computer skills
