Key Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, and teaching resources.
- Deliver lessons in accordance with the approved curriculum and learning objectives.
- Apply learner-centered teaching methodologies to enhance participation and understanding.
- Integrate ICT and digital learning tools into classroom activities where applicable.
- Ensure timely syllabus coverage and achievement of learning outcomes.
- Support learners with diverse educational needs through differentiated instruction.
Assessment and Evaluation
- Conduct continuous assessments and maintain accurate learner records.
- Prepare, administer, and mark assignments, projects, tests, and examinations.
- Monitor learner progress and provide timely feedback.
- Prepare and submit learner progress reports within the required timelines.
- Maintain learner portfolios and assessment documentation.
Learner Management and Welfare
- Maintain discipline and promote positive behavior among learners.
- Monitor learner attendance and follow up on absenteeism and lateness.
- Ensure learner safety, health, and well-being while in school.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to support learners' personal development.
- Identify learners requiring additional academic or psychosocial support and make referrals where necessary.
Classroom Management
- Create and maintain a conducive learning environment.
- Manage classroom resources and ensure proper use of teaching and learning materials.
- Maintain cleanliness, order, and safety within the classroom.
Co-curricular Activities
- Participate in sports, clubs, music, drama, and other extracurricular activities.
- Identify and nurture learners' talents and abilities.
- Support school events, educational trips, and community activities.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Attend staff meetings, workshops, and professional development programs.
- Maintain accurate academic and administrative records.
- Prepare reports and documentation as required by school management.
- Participate in curriculum implementation and school improvement initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Communicate learner progress and concerns to parents and guardians.
- Participate in parent-teacher meetings and school community activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues and other stakeholders to support learner success.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education from a recognized institution.
- Registration with the Teachers Service Commission TSC.
- Knowledge and understanding of Competency-Based Education CBE.
- Teaching experience in a primary school environment is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in ICT integration in teaching and learning.
