Key Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, and learning resources.
- Deliver curriculum content effectively using learner-centered approaches.
- Facilitate competency-based learning and practical application of knowledge.
- Integrate ICT and digital learning tools into classroom instruction.
- Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learner abilities and needs.
- Ensure timely and complete syllabus coverage.
Assessment and Evaluation
- Develop, administer, and mark assignments, projects, practicals, tests, and examinations.
- Conduct continuous assessments and maintain accurate learner records.
- Analyze assessment results and implement performance improvement strategies.
- Prepare and submit learner progress reports within established timelines.
- Maintain learner portfolios and assessment records as required.
Learner Guidance and Career Development
- Mentor learners in their chosen career pathways and subject specializations.
- Provide academic and career guidance to support future education and employment opportunities.
- Identify learners requiring additional academic or psychosocial support and make appropriate referrals.
- Encourage leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurship among learners.
Classroom and Student Management
- Maintain discipline and foster a positive learning environment.
- Monitor student attendance and address absenteeism issues promptly.
- Promote learner safety, welfare, and adherence to school policies.
- Manage classroom resources and ensure proper utilization of learning materials.
Co-Curricular Activities
- Participate in sports, clubs, societies, and talent development programs.
- Mentor students in extracurricular and leadership activities.
- Support school events, educational trips, exhibitions, and competitions.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Attend departmental meetings, staff meetings, and professional development sessions.
- Maintain accurate academic and administrative records.
- Prepare reports as required by school management and regulatory authorities.
- Participate in curriculum implementation, review, and school improvement initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Communicate learner progress and concerns to parents and guardians.
- Participate in parent-teacher meetings and school community activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues and external stakeholders to support learner success.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or a relevant subject area from a recognized institution.
- Registration with the Teachers Service Commission TSC.
- Knowledge and experience in Competency-Based Education CBE or Competency-Based Curriculum CBC.
- Relevant teaching experience in secondary or senior school education is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in ICT and digital learning technologies.
