JOB DESCRIPTION:
Job Title: Project Manager – Transmission Lines (Design & Construction)
Employment Type: 1 Year Contract (Extendable)
Work Location: Gauteng, Johannesburg
JOB CONTEXT:
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Project Manager to Take the lead in delivering critical high-voltage transmission line projects from concept to commissioning. This role is responsible for driving the successful planning, design, construction, and energisation of transmission infrastructure within EPC/PC environments, ensuring full compliance with Eskom requirements, industry-leading safety standards, and project delivery commitments. You'll play a key role in powering communities and supporting the future of South Africa's electrical network through the safe, efficient, and on-time execution of complex infrastructure projects.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead full lifecycle delivery of transmission line projects including route interface, design coordination, procurement, site construction and commissioning support.
- Oversee tower spotting, foundations, structures, stringing and line completion activities.
- Manage designers, contractors, and specialist consultants; ensure compliance with Eskom standards, Grid Code and project scope requirements.
- Manage project schedule, cost, reporting and risk.
- Drive stakeholder engagement, technical reviews, and approvals.
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering or related field.
- 10+ years’ experience in transmission line design and construction; mandatory experience on projects from a minimum of 400kV and preference for direct 765kV project exposure.
- Proven EPC/PC project delivery experience.
- Strong knowledge of Eskom transmission line standards, approvals and construction practices.
- ECSA registration preferred.
- Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) – advantageous.
- Minimum of 5–8 years project management experience.
PACKAGE & REMUNERATION:- Compensation will be determined based on qualifications, applicable experience, and previous earnings.
